It was not a week to remember for either the Nashville Christian School or Harpeth High School Football teams. NCS got trounced at home by Battle Ground Academy by the score of 45-0. Harpeth visited Hickman County and didn’t fare much better, losing 28-0.
Nashville Christian couldn’t get anything going against BGA. They were held to just 58 total yards of offense. BGA got the scoring started early, scoring just 46 seconds into the game. BGA’s QB Nick Semptimphelter threw his first touchdown pass of the night to Tiy Reed to put BGA up seven.
BGA increased their lead to 10 when Jack Saunder made a 32-yard field goal. Antonio Stevens then rushed the football in from five yards out, increasing BGA’s lead to 17-0. Semptimphelter threw his second touchdown pass of the day with just 25 seconds left in the first quarter, completing a 12-yard pass to Chico Bennett to put BGA up 24-0.
Semptimphelter threw his third touchdown pass of the day with just 13 seconds left in the first half, when he completed a three-yard pass to Garnett Hollis, as BGA took a 31-0 lead into halftime.
The second half was much like the first half, as Nashville Christian struggled to produce anything. BGA increased their lead to 38 when Reed took a Zach Clark punt 56 yards to the house. BGA ended their scoring early in the 4th quarter on a 13-yard touchdown run by Briston Bennett to put them up 45-0. Battle Ground Academy finished with 366 yards of total offense, while Nashville Christian only managed 58 total yards. Semptimphelter showed out for BGA, completing 15 of his 21 passes for 256 yards and three touchdowns. Kaleb Seay led all rushers with five rushes for 57 yards. BGA’s Reed finished with six catches for 113 yards and one touchdown catch.
Brayden Bonds finished the night going 4-10 and throwing for just 21 yards. Matt McClary saw action as well at the quarterback position for NCS. He completed two passes for 12 yards. Josh Strickland led all NCS rushers with 35 yards on 12 rushing attempts.
Jesse Parrish led the Eagles in tackles again, as he finished with seven total tackles. Strickland wasn’t far behind, finishing with six total tackles, while Zach Young finished with four tackles. Devon Clarke, Elijah Reed, and Garrett Collins all finished with three tackles.
Nashville Christian has their first district game next week, as Fayette Academy heads to Nashville to take on the Eagles. Fayette Academy is 2-0 on the year with wins against Northpoint Christian and Trinity Christian Academy. Kickoff will be at 7:00.
