The Preds Ice Center, a 90,000-square-foot facility that was first announced in February 2017, will be completed by next summer at One Bellevue Place. The new facility, for which Metro has allocated $28 million, will be part of One Bellevue Place, a mixed-use development that features entertainment, dining and retail outlets. “We needed a transformative catalyst, and we needed bodies to make this development work,” said Sheri Weiner, Metro council representative. “And what better way to give back to the community than with something that they want.” The Preds Ice Center will mark Nashville’s third ice skating rink, joining Centennial Sportsplex and the Predators’ Ford Ice Center in Antioch, which opened in 2014. It will be very similar to Ford Ice Center. Some of the design elements will be improved upon, but the key difference is that the new center will have three separate areas: the library, the rec center, and the ice rink. The new Bellevue complex will be designed to house everything under one roof. The goal is to have no one know where one ends and the other begins, for a continuous flow in and out of each other. The two additional rinks in Bellevue are expected to help meet the growing demand for ice time in Nashville, particularly among youth players.
